Christian & Small is pleased to announce that Partner M. Jansen Voss has been chosen as a member of this year’s “Top 40 Under 40” class by the Birmingham Business Journal (BBJ). The BBJ identifies dynamic businessmen and women who lead by example, have an impact on the growth of business, give back to the community, and have distinguished themselves amongst their peers before reaching their 40th birthday. Voss will officially receive his award at an event on Thursday, Feb. 20, 2020.

He brings a thoughtful and innovative approach to his practice, and offers us a different perspective on harnessing business development opportunities. He is well deserving of this honor.”
Voss’ practice serves the mental health, elder care, nonprofit and social services (including drug rehab and intellectual disabilities) sector. He regularly represents mental health facilities, nursing homes, psychiatrists and psychologists with business matters, regulatory issues, risk management and lawsuits. His representation also includes doctors, nurses, and other health care professionals in medical malpractice lawsuits, handling matters before professional licensing boards including, the Alabama Board of Medical Examiners, Alabama Board of Nursing, and the Alabama Board of Examiners in Counseling. In addition, Jansen advises social service providers and nonprofits that include child care providers and churches, and represents insurance agents, brokers and carriers involved in lawsuits related to negligent failure to procure insurance, bad faith and coverage issues.
Dedicated to and engaged in community service, Voss is a board member of LifeSouth Community Blood Centers and is well-known for his work in mental health, serving on the executive committee for the Jefferson, Blount and St. Clair County Mental Health Authority. He is actively helping to develop policies and programs that offer mental health services to those in need. For the Birmingham School System, he is involved with the Birmingham Education Foundation and works to help families of pre-school children prepare for school.
Voss was also honored in 2018 as at one of Benchmark Litigation’s “Under 40 Hotlist,” and he was recognized as one of Birmingham Magazine‘s 2018 “Top Attorneys.” He has been recognized by Super Lawyers as a Mid-South Region “Rising Star,” and was selected as one of the Birmingham Business Journal‘s “Rising Star Lawyers” in 2017 and 2018.
In a letter of support that accompanied his nomination, Jefferson County Circuit Court Judge Teresa Pulliam stated, “Jansen’s resume speaks volumes about his commitment to serving the community as a whole. He is dedicated to such service and is an ambassador of the legal profession in every way. He is also a proud graduate of my alma mater, Birmingham Southern College, and continues to give back to his college in many ways. I am happy he has been chosen as one of our city’s ‘Top 40 Under 40.’”
