RES__IATL Fellow InductionChristian & Small is pleased to announce that Partner Richard E. Smith was recently inducted as a Fellow of the International Academy of Trial Lawyers at its mid-year meeting in Manchester Village, Vermont.
The Academy is a group of truly elite trial lawyers representing both sides of the Bar: prosecutors and defense lawyers in criminal cases, and plaintiffs’ and defense counsel in civil litigation (including business and personal injury cases). Membership in the U.S. is limited to 500 Fellows. While the majority of the Fellows come from the U.S., the Academy includes lawyers from more than 30 countries. Fellowship is by invitation only, and trial lawyers are invited to become Fellows only after an extremely careful vetting process.
The Academy’s purposes are to promote reforms in the law, facilitate the Administration of Justice, promote the Rule of Law internationally and evaluate the standards of integrity, honor and courtesy in the legal profession.
Smith’s practice at Christian & Small focuses primarily on complex and corporate litigation for clients in the financial services, health care and construction industries, as well as corporate entities in other industries. He is one of the firm’s founding partners, a partner with its predecessor, Rives & Peterson, and has been an integral member of the firm’s litigation group for his entire career.
