Christian & Small Of Counsel Attorney Gabrielle “Gaby” E. Reeves, who is located in our Baldwin County, Alabama office, will be presenting “Property Insurance and other Legal Considerations” at the Alabama AARP’s Disaster Preparedness Workshop on Wednesday, June 5, 2019.
Her presentation will explain what a homeowners policy covers (“not flood damage”), what different endorsements, exclusions and terms mean, what the policyholder’s duties are, how to make a claim, how to apply for flood insurance with FEMA and how to make claim with it, and how to apply for disaster relief. She will also discuss what end-of-life documents a person should have in place and where to buy waterproof document pouches to house those documents so that they are easily accessible when evacuating.
Reeves focuses her practice on general civil litigation with a concentration in first-party insurance, personal injury and premises liability defense litigation. Her experience includes representing both corporations and individuals in trial and appellate work, and she holds an AV® Preeminent Peer Review Rating and an AV® Preeminent Judicial Division Rating from Martindale-Hubble. Reeves has been active in the South Alabama Volunteer Lawyers Program (SAVLP) throughout her career – serving on the SAVLP Board of Directors for more than 15 years. She is currently a member of the SAVLP’s Executive Board, serving as the program’s Vice-President. Reeves is a member of the Alabama Defense Lawyers Association (ADLA) and serves as the editor of the ADLA Journal.
