Sharon D. StuartChristian & Small is pleased to announce that Partner Sharon D. Stuart has been selected as a Fellow of the Birmingham Bar Foundation. She was inducted at the Fellows Dinner held at The Club on Saturday, Feb. 17, 2018, and she joins Christian & Small Partners LaBella S. Alvis, Thomas W. Christian, Clarence M. Small Jr., the late Richard F. Ogle, and Managing Partner Deborah Alley Smith as a Foundation Fellow.
“I am honored to join this distinguished community of my legal colleagues in helping to further the goals and support the mission of the Birmingham Bar Foundation,” Stuart said. “Working together, we have the ability to do our part in giving back to our profession while supporting programs and services that improve the quality of life in the greater Birmingham community.”
The Birmingham Bar Foundation was established in 1994, and its mission is to encourage and unify the philanthropic and educational efforts of the Birmingham Bar Association for the betterment of the community and for the promotion of justice. The Foundation engages in charitable activities including projects that advocate and advance jury service, combat domestic violence, and promote public awareness about the judicial system and the role of lawyers in creating a fair and just society. Birmingham Bar Foundation Fellows help ensure that the Foundation is a resource through which the legal community can come together and support initiatives that make access to justice a reality for those in need.
Stuart is a founding partner of Christian & Small and has been with the firm since 1993. She holds an AV® Preeminent Peer Review Rating from Martindale-Hubbell and handles complex and class action business, insurance and product liability cases in the state and federal courts and in arbitration. Stuart has been recognized by The Best Lawyers in America – garnering 2018 “Lawyer of the Year” honors for insurance law – is ranked among the 2017 Top 50 Women Mid-South Super Lawyers® and was named by the Birmingham Business Journal as one of its 2017 “Women to Watch.”
Stuart is active in the International Association of Defense Counsel, the Defense Research Institute, and the American Inns of Court. Sharon is a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation and the Alabama Law Foundation, and she is currently the President of the Alabama Defense Lawyers Association. She serves on Samford University‘s Board of Trustees and on the Board of Directors for M-Power Ministries, is a member of the Leadership Birmingham Class of 2012, and was a long-time Vice-Chair on the Friends Advisory Board for WBHM Public Radio 90.3, Birmingham’s National Public Radio affiliate.
